At Refined Detroit, we are dedicated to bringing hope to the hopeless and building bridges for survivors where gaps have caused them to fall through. We specialize in providing essential services and support to the Black LGBTQ+ community of Detroit and surrounding areas, with a particular focus on the Black LGBTQ+ survivor community. Survivor Support
At Refined Detroit, we believe in honoring and empowering survivors. We recognize the intersectional nature of victimization and understand that many individuals face multiple forms of adversity. Therefore, we offer comprehensive and culturally competent services tailored to meet the diverse needs of Black LGBTQ+ survivors. Refined Detroit is at the forefront of providing technical support and strategic consulting to organizations seeking to improve their Black LGBTQ+ survivor support initiatives. Our approach is built on four foundational pillars. Our wraparound technical assistance ensures that support providers are not only equipped with the right tools but also engaged in meaningful, nontraditional ways of connecting with the Black LGBTQ+ community.

Local Initiatives
Refined Detroit is dedicated to sparking meaningful change across Metro Detroit. Our local initiatives focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by the Black LGBTQ+ survivor community. We work collaboratively with local organizations, advocates, and community leaders to drive impactful change and raise awareness about issues affecting the Black LGBTQ+ community. Whether it’s advocating for policy changes, organizing community events, or providing education, we are committed to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
Faith Connections
We believe that spirituality and a sense of belonging are not mutually exclusive. Our Faith Connections initiative works to support faith-based organizations in reconciling religious beliefs with the necessity of nurturing Black LGBTQ+ inclusivity. By fostering open dialogue and education, we aim to build faith-cultures that embrace and celebrate Black LGBTQ+ individuals, providing them with a spiritual home where they can thrive.
